SOUTHERN Valley Golf Club are launching the first Gravesham Open Golf Championships on Sunday, June 9.

The 380-member club, which began three years ago, is hoping to attract up to 100 players to the 18-hole medal competition.

Club spokesman William Richardson said: “A number of our members take part in the Medway Open at Deangate Ridge GC but they don’t get an opportunity to play in a similar competition here. Now they have that chance.”

Prizes are on offer for the best gross score and the best net score. Anyone wishing to take part in the tournament is advised to ring the Gravesend Open entry line at Southern Valley GC on 01474 740026.
