Stuart Lewis says Ebbsfleet’s players have dealt with their title pain and are ready to attack the play-offs.
Lewis admitted it took him the best part of a week to get over Fleet’s defeat at Sutton which effectively ended their championships hopes.
But the midfielder, who’s among the favourites to be named player-of-the-year at Stonebridge Road, insists he’s ready to go again next week.
Lewis said: "It was huge disappointment. I can still feel it now, walking off the pitch. We all clapped the fans and I was on my own.
"It hurt. All that we’d worked for, for such a long time, we knew that it was the end of the road in terms of the title.
"It was one of the most I’ve hurt on the football pitch. It’s eight or nine months of grafting and for it to be lost like that was disappointing.
"It took me a few days to get over it. Having last weekend off was good to clear our minds. We’re moving on to the play-offs now and focusing on them.
"Everyone came in on Monday, ready for training, and it’s a new beginning. We’ve got to put that to bed now, be positive and crack on with the remainder of the season.
"I’d be lying if I said we weren’t disappointed after the Sutton game because we were but we’ve re-focused.
"The manager brought us all together on Monday and said, ‘look, we’re now attacking the play-offs’ and that’s what we’re going to do.
"We can’t dwell on the past. What’s gone has gone and we’ve got to attack the next – hopefully – three games. I’m sure we can do it."
