Lucrative FA Cup tie eludes Fleet

GRAVESEND & Northfleet manager Andy Ford has put on a brave face despite his disappointment after Fleet were drawn away to Exeter in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Dreams of a lucrative home draw with the possibility of more money to come if they won, dissolved when they were paired with one of the two clubs relegated last season from the Nationwide Football League. The match takes place on Saturday, October 25.

The Fleet started with a psychological advantage having beaten Exeter 3-2 at Stonebridge Road on September 20 - a result Ford was quick to seize on. He said:“We beat them a few weeks ago but they’ve come good recently.

“It’ll be a good cup tie and they get crowds of between 2,000 and 3,500 so there’s bound to be a good atmosphere.”
