Ebbsfleet 2 Aldershot 2
Ebbsfleet left Aldershot’s title celebrations on ice until at least Saturday after holding Gary Waddock’s side to a 2-2 draw at Stonebridge Road on Tuesday.
Aldershot went into the game knowing that a win would secure promotion to the Football League if Torquay United failed to beat Oxford United.
Fleet went ahead after 14 minutes when Luke Moore slotted home George Purcell’s left-sided cross.
The visitors almost pulled level just two minutes later when Kirk Hudson found himself in space on the left, before seeing his powerful shot cannon off the inside of the post.
In the second half, the Shots pulled level after 56 minutes when Louie Soares hit the bar with a long-range effort and John Grant followed up to head home the rebound.
Grant then put the visitors ahead on 71 minutes when he headed home Lewis Chalmers’ cross.
Fleet continued to push forward in search of an equaliser and were rewarded for their efforts when McPhee turned in Mark Ricketts’ cross on 88 minutes, to end a pulsating Blue Square Premier game.
