Ebbsfleet v Weymouth
Chris McPhee will forget old loyalties when he returns to Stonebridge Road on Saturday for the first time since scoring the only goal of the game in Ebbsfleet United’s historic FA Trophy victory over Torquay in May.
The striker played his last game for the Fleet at Wembley before moving to Weymouth in the summer.
The two teams meet on Saturday and McPhee is relishing the opportunity to go head-to-head with some of his old teammates.
He said: “When the fixtures come out the first thing I look for is the game when I play against my old club. I’m looking forward to it.
“I still know a lot of the boys from last season and it will be good to have a chat with them before and after the game.”
Meanwhile, Ebbsleet boss Liam Daish is urging his fringe players to make his job harder by pushing harder for a regular spot at Stonebridge Road.
He included 10 squad players with first-team experience in the squad for last week’s Kent Senior Cup win over Dover but admitted he was left wanting more.
Daish said: “At the moment it’s a case of sticking with the devil you know, because few are pressing their claims for a shirt and really sowing seeds in my mind to change things."
