New signing strengthens North Kent side

GRAVESEND & Northfleet have strengthened their squad for the fourth time this summer with the signing of Barnet winger Austin Berkley on a free transfer.

Following their promotion into the Conference last season, Fleet boss Andy Ford is hoping the former Gillingham and Shrewsbury player will make a big impression.

He said: "Getting someone of Austin's experience will help the team enormously, having been a professional all his playing career.

"Every manager is looking for players who have played at the highest level, and I am sure the crowd will take to him being a local lad."

The 29-year-old, who can operate on either flank, joins Jimmy Strouts, Mark Bentley and Lew Watts as the newest recruits at Stonebridge Road.
