Ebbsfleet United midfielder Jordan Parkes delighted with his first goals for the club in 2-0 win at Maidstone United

New signing Jordan Parkes was thrilled to score his first Ebbsfleet goals in the derby win over Maidstone.

Parkes was prolific for Hemel Hempstead last season and he showed a cool head in front of goal to net once in each half at the Gallagher Stadium.

The midfielder had gone close several times during Ebbsfleet's season opener against Basingstoke on Saturday.

Parkes said: "I was disappointed not to score at the weekend. I had a couple of shots and the keeper made a few good saves but to get two tonight (Tuesday), I’m up and running.

"I’m still annoyed that I missed the free-kick because it was perfectly in my territory, exactly where I wanted it but I made up for it with the two other goals."

Parkes opened the scoring on 40 minutes after Lee Worgan had kept out Matt Godden's header from a Danny Kedwell cross.

"It was a brilliant save," he said. "Matty Godden’s at the back post, he heads it across, great save and then it just bounced in front of me. I could see players diving in front of me and I thought ‘I just need to lift this over the top’.

"The second one was a brilliant bit of play down the left with Kiss (John Paul Kissock) and Joe Howe and Kedders. He pulled it back to me and I thought ‘I need to get a good connection on this’ and it went in."
