Phone call keeps Fleet fans in the know

GRAVESEND & Northfleet have been praised by supporters after taking the unusual step of calling their season ticket holders to tell them about a change of kick-off time.

The start time for the match against Morecambe on Saturday was brought forward to 2.30pm due to problems with power to the floodlights.

At 11am a decision was made to let the club’s season ticket holders know, with director Bob Gunton left to make more than 200 phone calls.

Mr Gunton said: "The general response I got was 'thanks for the call'. I didn’t have time to get into any long conversations as I’d still be doing it now!

"We’re not a massively well supported club but we do value our supporters that come week in, week out.

"They pay quite a large amount of money for the privilege and we felt they were entitled to see the whole 90 minutes."
