Ebbsfleet striker Dominic Poleon blasted an opening day hat-trick and then warned there's more to come from his side.
The Fleet produced a breathtaking opening half-hour to brush aside Kent rivals Tonbridge at Stonebridge Road.
But Poleon insisted there's still room for improvement.
"I'm fully concentrated on making this season a good one, I think we've got the foundations and the players," said Poleon.
"Everything is set up for us to have a good season. It's exciting times and it's a great start, but this is gone now, we move onto the next one.
"After today, it's gone. Good, bad or indifferent we move onto the next game. We have to have that mindset that we can't rest on the good things.
"We've got to strive to be better and do better. It was good to have the fans back but onto the next game.
"You can always improve and work on your game and team stuff. But when you win 5-1 you can't really grumble, can you?"
Poleon's confidence is front of goal will be sky high after his hat-trick but the former Leeds, AFC Wimbledon and Dover striker is putting the team first.
"It's good to score a hat-trick and it breeds confidence but it's a team thing and those goals mean nothing if we don't get the win," stressed the 27-year-old.
"What's the point of scoring goals if we come away with no points? It's a team game, I thank my team-mates because without them I don't get the chances and long may it continue. I'm just happy I finished it off.
"The first one, it was a great ball by Craig Tanner, I cut in and I think it took a deflection to be fair. Second one, counter break, goalkeeper sidewinder straight to me, took it on the half volley, dinked the keeper. The last one was Raks round the corner to me, one on one with the keeper and bottom corner.
"It doesn't matter for me (how I score), as long as the ball goes in, it can go in off my nose it doesn't matter for me. The fact was that we got the three points."
When National League South halted in February last season, the Fleet continued to play practice matches behind closed doors.
They've worked hard again during pre-season and Poleon felt the opening day victory was reward for their endeavour.
"It was a great game," he said. "I'm a little bit disappointed we didn't get the clean sheet after all the work we put in this pre-season, we've put countless hours on the training ground.
"It was great to have the fans back and good to get three goals.
"When Covid hit we had so many friendlies. After the season ended at Welling, we were working from then and we didn't stop. It's paid off.
"It feels so good to play in front of fans again, the pre-season is done now and it's time to work, it's time to give back to the fans and make this place a fortress.
"We've got a good squad, there's competition for places all over the park. We've got a great bunch of lads and it felt good."
