Four games without a win at the start of Steve Brown’s first season in management has left the Ebbsfleet boss feeling the heat.

Home supporters went away grumbling after Monday’s 1-1 draw against Maidenhead, a result which left the Fleet with three points from a possible 12 in The Skrill South.

Brown arrived in the summer with a manifesto for passing football and he isn’t about to abandon his philosophy, but the 41-year-old admitted he’s feeling the pressure to deliver results.

He said: “I’d be lying if I said that first win wasn’t a big hurdle. It is a bit of a weight on my shoulders because every manager wants to win games.

“I’m no different. The players want to win, the staff want to win, the supporters want us to win.

“The longer that goes, the pressure builds. We’re doing as much as we can do without getting that final result. When that first victory comes – and it will come – everybody will settle down and relax a little bit."

Brown could again be without Ben May for Saturday's trip to Dorset, the striker having aggravated his back injury in the warm-up on Monday.

Fleet host Tonbridge Angels in the Kent Senior Cup on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm.
