Ebbsfleet made it two wins out of two in National League South on Saturday with a comfortable home victory.
Dominic Poleon and Adam Mekki scored for the second successive game while Lee Martin added a third goal to calm any late nerves.
Fleet, who didn't play last weekend as their game at Chippenham was postponed due to Covid, made four changes from the team that stuffed Tonbridge 5-1 in their season opener.
Hemel came into the game on the back of losing their first two matches but they should have been ahead inside the first 20 seconds.
Ky Marsh-Brown beat the offside trap and was clean through on goal but, from a wide angle, he lifted his right-foot shot high and wide of the target.
Captain Martin, one of the Fleet changes, struck the post from 25 yards after seven minutes before Poleon shot wide after good work down the left by the tireless Greg Cundle.
Ebbsfleet didn't have the same fluidity they showed against Tonbridge in the first half but Hemel put five across the back and tried to catch them on the counter.
It's a tactic that many will no doubt adopt and one the Fleet need to work out how to overcome. They were left mainly to shots from distance before the breakthrough arrived four minutes before half-time.
Martin found a pocket of space and his perfectly-weighted through ball fed Poleon behind the Hemel backline, the in-form striker needing just one touch to beat keeper Lewis Patching and slot home.
Cundle shot wide from distance before Hemel forced on-loan keeper John Gould into a save when Nathan Bertram-Cooper's header from a free-kick was comfortably saved.
Hemel made a double change at the break, but they had to defend against a strong wind in the second half.
That nearly led to a Tanner corner going straight in as the ball came back off the upright.
But the Fleet didn't have long to wait for their second goal, a stunning flick by Tanner setting up Mekki, who curled the ball into the far corner from inside the penalty area on 55 minutes.
Fleet made a double change midway through the second half but within a minute Hemel were back in the game when a corner from the right was turned in by defender Cole Kpekawa.
Ebbsfleet should have restored their two-goal lead almost immediately but Tanner went clean through only to produce a weak finish with just keeper Patching to beat.
But any worries the Fleet had were soon put to bed when, with 16 minutes left, Cundle crossed from the left and the ball fell perfectly for Martin to convert from close range.
