Danny Kedwell's first goal of the season helped Ebbsfleet to a hugely impressive victory at Barnet on Saturday.
Kedwell struck at the end of the first half and Corey Whitely continued his good form with a goal in the second.
Fleet were worthy winners at The Hive, where Sean Shields completed a perfect away performance with a late strike.
Ebou Adams was restored to the Ebbsfleet midfield and Myles Weston also got his place back as Daryl McMahon made two changes to the team beaten by Sutton in midweek. Chris Bush and Michael Cheek dropped to the bench and Sam Magri played on the left-hand side of a back three while Andy Drury made his 200th appearance for the club in central midfield.
Barnet came into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat at newly-promoted Harrogate and having not won since their relegation from League 2 last season. Manager John Still rang the changes, five to be exact, although former Maidstone midfielder Dan Sweeney kept his place in the team.
Kedwell almost sent Whitely clean through in the opening couple of minutes and when the ball reached Sean Shields, wide on the left, he cut inside and forced a save from Bees keeper Mark Cousins.
Barnet, a pretty direct side, thought they should have been awarded a penalty when Dave Winfield got the wrong side of Dan Sparkes and brought him down. However, the officials decided the incident had taken place outside the box and the free-kick was wasted.
Both sides were guilty of squandering possession and chances, as a result, were at a premium.
Ebbsfleet did string a few passes together in the 20th minute but Kedwell's low shot was straight at Cousins.
The visitors were enjoying a good spell, pushing Barnet back, and once again Cousins had to be alert to grab Weston's low cross from the right.
However, the Bees almost scored against the run of play when Dan Sparkes' free-kick took a deflection which almost carried it beyond Nathan Ashmore. The keeper adjusted at the last minute and pulled off a fantastic diving save but then required lengthy treatment after taking a knock to his upper body.
With no goalie on the bench, there was understandable concern from the Fleet staff but Ashmore was eventually back on his fit and able to continue.
Ephron Mason-Clark volleyed over although it was the visitors offering the greater attacking threat.
Dave Winfield headed wide from Jack Powell's right-wing corner but with a minute of normal time left in the first half, Fleet hit the front.
Weston was caught late wide on the right and when the free-kick was taken quickly, Kedwell did brilliantly to hold off one man and turn another before rifling low past Cousins with his left foot.
Drury went close with a header from Powell's corner at the start of the second half and Adams powered a shot over after the visitors had worked space neatly in midfield.
But gradually Barnet built a head of steam and Sparkes should have made it 1-1 when a deep cross dropped at his feet in the six-yard box. Sparkes blazed over but McMahon had seen enough and Dean Rance was sent on for his first action of the season following groin surgery.
It was all hands on deck for Ebbsfleet now as Barnet poured forward. Byron Harrison went close with a header and Rance got his head to a dangerous cross as the Bees sniffed an equaliser.
But the all-important second goal went Fleet's way on 66 minutes. Kedwell and Adams were involved in the build-up and Whitely lifted the ball past Cousins before stretching to hammer it into the roof of the net.
Shields was almost in for number three moments later and Barnet started to lose their discipline, conceding foul after foul.
Ebbsfleet, playing keep-ball for fun, added to their hosts' frustration with the raucous travelling support loving every minute.
With Chris Bush and Luke Coulson now on the pitch, they finished the afternoon with a back four and scored again two minutes from time.
Adams linked with Coulson inside the penalty area and Shields did well to force the ball home from a narrow angle.
This result will make a few people sit up and take note - and rightly so. Ebbsfleet mean business.
