Neither side can afford to hold back when Ebbsfleet host leaders Boreham Wood on Saturday.
Wood are involved in a four-way fight for the title and they’ve played a game more than the two sides below them – so must win at Stonebridge Road.
Meanwhile, the Fleet can still catch fifth-placed Whitehawk and make the play-offs if they win their last four games.
But two wins for the Hawks from their final three games will finally end Ebbsfleet’s slim promotion hopes.
Whatever happens, it should be an entertaining clash at the weekend, when former Fleet captain Daryl McMahon returns with his new club.
Manager Jamie Day said: “We’ve got to keep knocking on the door and hope Whitehawk slip up. But from what I’ve seen of them, I can’t see them slipping up.
“They probably only need another four or five points – and that’s with us winning every game – and I can’t see them dropping that many points.
“Boreham Wood are top at the minute so they’ve got to come to us and try to get three points. If they come out and try to play, it might work in our favour.
“We’ve got to win on Saturday to take into Tuesday (at Bath). If we don’t, our season’s over."
