A CROWD of more than 4,000 watched Gravesend & Northfleet concede ground to leaders Canvey in the race for the Ryman League, Premier Division title race at Stonebridge Road on Tuesday.
Twice the kick off had to be delayed such was the congestion outside the ground with the match eventually getting underway at 8.10.
A tense match, in which the Fleet never produced their best, was settled in the 33rd minute by Canvey striker Neil Gregory's spectacular strike.
The Fleet's best chance fell to Darren Smith on the hour but he shot weakly when clean through.
