Gravesend & Northfleet 2 - 1 Southport
GRAVESEND'S Nationwide Conference revival continued with a hard-fought victory against Southport at Stonebridge Road on Saturday.
Gravesend took the lead after 15 minutes when Jimmy Jackson's inswinging cross was headed in at the near post by Paul McCarthy.
Fleet might have doubled their advantage 12 minutes later but Manny Omoyinmi's close-range shot was superbly tipped over by Southport keeper Steven Dickinson.
And the home side were made to pay for that missed opportunity when Kevin Leadbetter finished well with his left-foot to send the teams in level at the break.
But midfielder Danny Slatter struck in the 67th minute to give Liam Daish's team the points.
Substitute Andy Drury did well to find Ben Surey on the wing and his pinpoint cross was headed past Dickinson by Slatter.
This latest victory means Fleet have taken 10 points from their last 12.
Gravesend: McShane, Protheroe, Graham-Smith, McCarthy, Skinner, Slatter, Bowry, Saunders, Jackson, Omoyinmi (Surey 63), MacDonald (Drury h-t). Subs Not Used: Kerr, Gooding, Glozier.
Attendance: 813.
