Ebbsfleet host Notts County on Saturday with boss Garry Hill confident they will start winning soon.
An improved display at Solihull Moors last weekend has given Fleet something to build on as they prepare to face the oldest professional club in the world.
County, a League 1 club just five years ago, are now playing non-league football for the first time in their 157-year history.
It’s a real David v Goliath clash, especially with Ebbsfleet bottom of the National League, but Hill is upbeat.
He said: “The league table doesn’t tell lies but we’re not a bottom-of-the-table team.
“As soon as we get a result, I think we’ll move on and go in the right direction. I’m pretty confident of that.
“I’m not worried. I do believe the results will come.
“We know it’s a tough league. When you look at the fixtures we’ve had and you’re trying to build going forward through what has gone on in respect of May, players having an opportunity (to leave) through June, we’ve always been a little bit behind and we’re still behind. There’s no secret about that but we’re getting there.
“I do believe the results will come and you can’t feel sorry for yourself. I want to get out on that park and try to get another result. I’m sure it’ll come.”
Alex Lawless returns from injury to bolster the Fleet midfield against a County side still finding their feet in non-league.
They’ve got a win and two draws to their name so far and should bring a large travelling support to Stonebridge Road.
Hill said: “The players are desperate to do well. You’ve got to realise that we’ve got 14 new players at the football club.
“Sometimes it does gel (straight away) and sometimes it takes time but I can’t walk away from the last two away games and take negatives out of them, I can only take positives against sides who I believe will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.
“It’s a very thin dividing line. It was a penalty that won the game at Fylde and then for 88 minutes, there was nothing between the two teams. There was nothing between the teams for 80-odd minutes at Solihull apart from a lack of concentration and that’s where we are. We are close.
“It’s been a hard start on paper when you look at the league table and see where Solihull, AFC Fylde, Bromley, Yeovil and Halifax are at the moment.
“That doesn’t make you feel any better because there’s no easy games (coming up) but we have got punished for our own lack of concentration and that’s how football goes.”
Fleet are away to Boreham Wood on Monday.
