Ebbsfleet have signed Cray Wanderers forward Joe Taylor on an initial one-month loan.
With Isthmian Premier Cray currently not playing games, and the prospect that their season will be made null and void, there has been plenty of interest in Taylor.
The 29-year-old striker played two games for Welling earlier this month but left Park View Road after they sacked boss Bradley Quinton last week.
Fleet manager Dennis Kutrieb moved quickly to bring Taylor in and he made his debut in Tuesdayâs 2-0 National League South win at Slough.
âIt was good to start with a win,â said Taylor on Twitter. âIâm really looking forward to the upcoming games.
âThereâs more to come after getting up to speed. Even though I only managed two games (at Welling) due to Covid, Iâm feeling fit and sharp.â
Taylor scored 26 league goals and 32 in all competitions for the Wands in 38 appearances last season before lockdown cut short their season in March.
He had already scored 13 times for Cray this season.
Taylorâs presence certainly seemed to inspire fellow forward Rakish Bingham, who took his tally for the season to nine with a brace to sink Slough.
Fleet signed Reece Grant in pre-season from Dagenham but he has scored just twice while former Gillingham youngster Greg Cundle has started just two matches and is currently sidelined through injury.
Another former Gills man, Lee Martin, has often been the most advanced player alongside Bingham. Martin, who has missed the last four games due to injury after coming off in the opening minutes at Dartford on January 2, has scored four goals this term.
