Gravesend & Northfleet v Altricham

LUKE MOORE’S place in Gravesend’s starting line-up against Altrincham on Saturday has been virtually assured with two powerful performances in the space of 48 hours.

The 18-year-old striker and product of the Fleet’s PASE youth scheme, was outstanding after replacing Onome Sodje for the final 22 minutes of Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Aldershot.

On Monday, he followed up by scoring twice and again impressing for the reserves in a 4-1 win at Slough.

Manager Liam Daish, who praised Moore after the Aldershot defeat, said: "He’s putting more and more pressure on me to start him. To say he’s knocking on the first team door is putting it mildly. I find his attitude refreshing because he is so determined to do well.

"He set up Charlie MacDonald’s second goal in front of a good sized crowd at Aldershot on Saturday and then applied himself again in front of a handful at Slough on Monday.

"He’s showing so much promise that I was able to release Kim Grant."
