Forest Green 0 Gravesend 1

A GOAL from teenage striker Luke Moore was enough to give Gravesend & Northfleet three points at Forest Green on Saturday in the Nationwide Conference.

Moore pounced in the 27th minute to score his first goal of the season, while Fleet kept a clean sheet at the other end to ensure their second victory of the campaign.

Jon Keeling set up the goal, crossing the ball to the far post where 18-year-old Moore kept his cool to shoot past Forest keeper Steve Williams.

Fleet were good value for their lead at half-time but the home side came at them strongly in the second half and Alex Lawless went close to equalising when his shot went just wide in the 54th minute.

But Gravesend dug deep and, after Forest’s Darren Jones was sent off in the 82nd minute, they were able to hold on to the win that sends them up to ninth in the table.

Manager Liam Daish said: "It was great to see Luke Moore get a goal. He has done everything but score for us this season and it was good for him to get rewarded for all his hard work.

"We played well in the first half and although they came at us after the break, they never really looked like scoring."

Gravesend: Cronin, McCarthy, Ricketts, J Smith, R Smith, DeBolla, Keeling, Quinn, Slatter (Coleman 90mins), Moore (Ekoku 63mins), MacDonald. Subs not used: Mott, Roberts, Sodje.

Attendance: 881.
