Ebbsfleet moved a step closer to the Skrill South play-offs on Saturday with a 1-0 win at home to struggling Tonbridge.
Michael Thalassitis scored what proved to be the winner at the end of an uninspiring first half. Anthony Cook's free-kick swirled over Angels keeper Lewis Carey and Thalassitis nodded in his 10th goal of the season.
His fellow striker Billy Bricknell had a goal ruled out for offside soon after, before Mark Lovell went close for Tonbridge at the other end.
Tonbridge applied plenty of pressure in the second period but the only real alarm for Ebbsfleet came when Dean Rance headed a Lovell effort off the goal line.
Ben May, Michael Corcoran and Cook could all have made it 2-0, before a terrific Fleet move ended with Thalassitis firing just over in the closing stages.
Ebbsfleet were the only team in the top-five to win on Saturday, so this result moved them to within a point of third-placed Sutton and nine clear of Dover, in fifth.
Meanwhile, Tonbridge have dropped to 21st and they're three points from safety.
