Ebbsfleet manager Dennis Kutrieb has told striker Rakish Bingham not to worry about his lack of goals.
While leading scorer Dominic Poleon took his tally to nine goals in eight games as the Fleet made it eight straight National League South wins on Tuesday night against Braintree, Bingham again failed to add to his tally.
The centre-forward, who has scored just twice so far this term, including a penalty, cut a frustrated figure but Kutrieb says he brings so much more than goals.
“It’s normal [to get frustrated] as he is a striker and wants to score goals,” explained Kutrieb.
“I always tell him that he has such a high work-rate and I’m not concerned if he isn’t scoring. That’s fine for me, because he adds so much to the team which is more important than scoring as everyone else can score.
“There are a few things that he adds to the group which no one else can add, and that’s why he is with us and he plays every game - because he is so important. You saw when he was injured last season how much we missed him.
“The goals will come, he doesn’t need to worry about anything, just keep his head up and work hard.”
While Bingham has netted two of Fleet’s impressive tally of 25 goals in eight games, Greg Cundle took his count for the season to four with a brace.
Kutrieb added: “Greg will add goals, he has the quality and he was a striker so when he has chances, he will score goals.
“I am not surprised as I see it every day in training. There are a few others who will score goals as well.
“As I’ve said many times we just need to make sure that we defend in the right way. We have enough quality players in the squad that can score goals every game, regardless if it’s Greg Cundle or Omari Sterling-Wright and Darren McQueen on the other side.
“Rakish hasn’t scored now in a few games but he will score. I’m not concerned about scoring goals, we will get the chances, we just need to make sure that we defend as a team which is what we did in such an impressive way [against Braintree].”
Ebbsfleet take a break from league action this weekend when they host Dover in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round.
Having reached the First Round last season, before losing 1-0 at Leyton Orient, Kutrieb wants to enjoy a similar run.
“It was a great experience to play at Leyton Orient and I would love to see us challenge a higher-league team later in the competition, but if you want to do that you need to do your homework in the qualifying rounds,” he said.
“Obviously I would love to get to the First Round and play against a Football League side again. I would love to see it but it’s a long way off, we need to win three games to get there.
“We will put a strong team out as we want to win every game, regardless of whether it’s a friendly, a cup game or league game. We need to work very hard and have a bit of luck to get the right result.”
