Midfielder Josh Wright has urged Ebbsfleet to celebrate their title-winning campaign in style this weekend.

There will be a party atmosphere as the Fleet sign off as National League South champions at home to Hungerford on Saturday before an open-top bus ride and family fun day on Sunday.

“Let’s have it right, what a season it’s been and what a time we’ve had,” said Wright.

“We’ve been by far and beyond the best team in this division and the league table doesn’t lie. We’ve got to enjoy that. We have enjoyed it but I think we can enjoy it more.

“That doesn’t mean to say we’ve got to go partying and celebrating non-stop, but have smiles on our faces.

“We’ve got one more game left at home which I’m sure will be a big crowd, we’ve got to bring our A-game.

“We want to end the season on a high at home in front of our incredible fans, they deserve a good send-off for the season and so do the players and staff. We need to enjoy the weekend and end the season on a big high with a big three points.”

Wright scored his second goal of the season in last Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Welling.

He also provided the assist for Darren McQueen’s opener but a Stefan Payne hat-trick proved decisive at Park View Road.

“It's always nice to score,” said Wright, who ran the London Marathon less than 24 hours later alongside his famous brother Mark.

“I felt I was in good areas in the first half. I set one up for Darren in the first half and I love to chip in, in any way that I can affect and help the team, and an assist is always big for me as well.

“I’ve got a few of them and to get the goal as well was great but it was a consolation. I’d much rather have got a point or a win rather than me scoring.

“If we’re being honest, first half for 30-35 minutes it was one of the best we’ve played this season. We were very dominant and you’ve got to take your chances. We went 1-0 up and had to kill the game off.

“We didn’t quite find the standard that we set in the second half. Their second goal was handball, so that’s gutting, but we didn’t quite react.”
