Daryl McMahon takes charge of his third and final game as Ebbsfleet's caretaker manager on Saturday.
The Fleet skipper and academy boss stepped into the role after Steve Brown was sacked last month and while the club's board were looking for their new first-team manager.
McMahon's first game was a 1-0 win over Hendon in the FA Trophy, when he led from the dugout.
He played in the league game at Maidenhead last Saturday and scored in a 4-0 win.
Jamie Day has now been appointed as Brown's successor but with his former club, Welling, the visitors to the PHB Stadium in the next round of the Trophy this weekend, the 35-year-old will watch from the stand.
McMahon will lead the team again and Fleet vice-chairman Peter Varney has thanked the midfielder for his efforts.
He said: "I cannot speak highly enough of Daryl.
"After the departure of Steve Brown, we offered Daryl the role of caretaker manager and he could easily have hidden behind the fact he is a player and not put himself in a position where he had to manage his team-mates or – worse – make decisions that may upset them.
"He didn’t do that. He stepped up to the plate and made the decisions he thought were right for the team and the club.
"The fact he put himself in the position he did is a real measure of the man and don’t forget he also that he took on all of this extra responsibility whilst coping with the birth of his first child."
On the pitch, it promises to be an intriguing first-round tie between a Fleet side sitting fourth in Vanarama Conference South and Welling, who Day left 17th in the division above after winning his final game 2-1 at AFC Telford on Tuesday night.
McMahon said: "We're looking forward to it. It'll be a good test for us, against a team from the league above in a Kent derby.
"I don't think there's a big gap between the teams. We're very close."
Dean Rance returns from suspension and Sean Shields could make his Fleet debut after joining on loan from Dagenham & Redbridge.
