Dartford FC defender Ronnie Vint enjoying life at centre-half as he continues to develop in senior football

Ronnie Vint is helping lead Dartford’s climb up the table and he says a change of position has been key to his form.

Academy graduate Vint started the season at right-back and looked shaky at times but it’s been a different story recently.

Having been moved inside to partner Callum McNaughton, the 19-year-old has ensured Dartford’s defence is the third-best in National League South, with just 21 goals conceded in 22 games.

Vint said: "I’ve never played at right-back, so when (manager) Tony Burman played me there it was something different.

"I think I played six games there at the start of the season and I’ve played the last 10-odd at centre-half. I feel comfortable, I’ve always played there.

"I know what I’m doing, I know how to sweep round if I need to so it’s nice being back at centre-half.

"The back-four have been solid but it’s everyone.

"A few results and now look at us – we’re looking like a good team."

Vint was loaned out to Cray Valley last season before stepping up to Dartford’s senior squad alongside Ebou Adams and Kaka Dembele.

He said: "I would have bitten Tony’s hand off if he’d said to me I’d play 16 or 17 games in Conference South.

"Last season I was playing in the Kent League so it’s a massive step up.

"Every game I’m learning something. I’m coming up against all sorts of different strikers, which is good for my learning."
