GRAVESEND & Northfleet manager Liam Daish has welcomed Onome Sodje back to Stonebridge Road despite the striker’s abrupt departure from the club last season.
The 20-year-old former Charlton Academy striker walked out without explanation to rejoin the Addicks last season before his release.
He subsequently played in summer public trials at Lilleshall but was not able to fulfil his ambition and secure a contract with a Football League club.
When he left the Fleet, Daish refused to go public on the reasons, preferring to keep his thoughts to himself. So his return – too late for inclusion in the new team photograph – took many by surprise.
"It’s not a case of forgive and forget," said Daish. "It was always a tough situation for him and for us.
"I would like to think he’ll stay a bit longer this time because I’m looking at him long-term because he had genuine pace and will offer more competition among the strikers."
Daish has also bolstered his squad with the signing of 20-year-old former Colchester and Torquay midfielder Liam Coleman.
