Sam Magri has spoken about his much-discussed move from Dover to Ebbsfleet.
The defender signed at Stonebridge Road on Friday, turning down the offer of a new Whites deal which would have taken him into a third season at Crabble.
News of Magri's transfer sparked plenty of reaction and the 23-year-old, while admitting he couldn't change his critics' minds, did address the question of why he was swapping Dover white for Ebbsfleet red in the National League.
Magri said: "They’re full-time and they train in the mornings. That was a big part of why I was very interested.
"There’s no right or wrong way. We had two successful seasons at Dover when we were training in the evenings but I needed to go full-time.
"I spoke with (Fleet manager) Daryl McMahon on Thursday with my agent.
"We all had a chat and I spoke with my wife and my family and we just thought it would be good to go full-time.
"Everyone thinks you go to Ebbsfleet for one reason but not everyone knows the stuff behind it.
"I don’t really want to talk about money because I know I’ll just get shot down again but me and my family, we know the facts so that’s all that bothers me.
"As long as we know what’s going on, what everyone else thinks doesn’t really bother me.
"Ebbsfleet got promoted last year and speaking to some of the players I know there, they seem ambitious again this year. It should be an exciting season."
