Leading marksman Harry Beautyman took his season's tally into double figures as Welling brushed aside 10-man Nuneaton on Saturday.
It was an unhappy return for former Welling caretaker boss Liam Daish, who was back at Park View Road nearly 10 years after a four-game spell in the hotseat following the departure of Paul Parker.
Daish could only watch on as the Wings put his new charges to the sword, particularly once keeper Reice Charles-Cook saw red just before half-time for bringing down Aristide Bassele.
Tyrone Marsh had already gone close by the time Beautyman's 19th-minute free-kick evaded everyone to curl in at the far post.
However, Nuneaton were level just three minutes later when a free-kick delivered into the box saw skipper Gareth Dean left all alone to head beyond keeper Jamie Turner - back in the side after Jonathan Henly's midweek howler at Kidderminster.
Welling continued to have the better of the play as Jamal Fyfield headed Beautyman's corner over and Malachi Hudson cut inside and had his shot deflected wide.
The game swung in Welling's favour in the 43rd minute as neat interchange in midfield saw Bassele burst through and round keeper Charles-Cook, only to be fouled in the process by his outstretched leg.
Referee David Rock raced over with the red card and, after a three-minute delay, substitute keeper James Hogarth-Wren's first act was to pick the ball out of the net as Beautyman's free-kick deflected off the wall on its way to making it 2-1.
Daish bravely kept two forwards upfront for Nuneaton after the break but Welling made all the running. Bassele's shot was turned behind, and full-back Ben Jefford sent two efforts across the face of goal.
Beautyman was denied his hat-trick by a stunning fingertip save from Hogarth-Wren, touching away his header from Barney Williams' cross.
Welling finally put the game to bed 18 minutes from time when Beautyman's flick inside his own half sent Marsh clear and he cut inside Anthony Charles before finding the far corner.
Two minutes later, Oxford loanee Marsh had his second of the afternoon as he beat Beautyman to Hudson's pull back to score from close range.
It could have been more as Marsh and substitute Jon Nouble both had efforts ruled out for offside and Beautyman hit the post in stoppage time.
