Air ambulance crews were scrambled after a man reportedly suffered a heart attack at a property in Broomfield, near Herne Bay.

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics were called at around midday on Sunday.

He said the helicopter was backed up with two ambulances and a car, but was unable to give further details of what had happened.

On Sunday night a reader contacted us to say her father had suffered a heart attack and had been transferred to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

"He suffered a critical heart attack, but he's in good care now and is being looked after," said the reader.

Sharron Sonnex, Conservative councillor for Herne and Broomfield, had reported seeing two ambulances, two police cars and the rapid response vehicle in Margate Rd at around 1pm.

A 33-year-old man, who lives nearby but asked not to be named, said: "I was driving past and it looked pretty serious to me.

"I saw three police cars, three ambulances and the helicopter.

"As I passed the house I could see a man in his late 30s comforting a lady in an upstairs window as the police and ambulance people went in downstairs.

"She looked tearful."

A spokesman for Kent Police confirmed officers had attended the address.

Kent Air Ambulance also confirmed attendance saying it had transferred a patient to the Ashford hospital following a "cardiac" incident.
