Air ambulance called to Herne Bay as man seriously injured in high street crash

A man has been airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a town centre crash.

Herne Bay High Street was closed by police between Pier Avenue and Station Road following the incident just after 3pm today.

A helicopter was photographed landing in Memorial Park, before flying the injured man to a London hospital.

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended the scene in Herne Bay High Street, along with Secamb and the air ambulance.

"The road was closed while recovery work is ongoing."

Eyewitnesses say as many as seven ambulances are currently at the scene, which is believed to have involved a motorcyclist.
