Emergency services called to Sainsbury's in Herne Bay following medical incident

Emergency services - including the air ambulance - descended on a supermarket this afternoon following a 'medical incident'.

Two police cars and the ambulance service were called to Sainsbury's in Herne Bay, which is on the Altira Business Park, in The Boulevard, at 12.14pm.

The air ambulance also landed on a patch of scrubland about 100 yards from the store.

It is understood a man collapsed inside the supermarket, according to a witness.

Emergency services were called to Sainsbury's in Herne Bay this afternoon

Customers were still allowed into the shop, but queues were stretching outside.

A spokesman for police said: "Kent Police was called at 12.14pm on Saturday, November 14 to a medical incident in The Boulevard, Herne Bay.

"Officers are in attendance and are providing assistance to South East Coast Ambulance Service."

The air ambulance also landed nearby

A Sainsbury's spokesperson said: “We can confirm there was an incident in our Herne Bay store and we are working with the emergency services to support them at this time.”
