Armed police near Sainsbury's in Herne Bay

Armed police are on the hunt for a suspect in Herne Bay.

Witnesses reported seeing officers with guns next to Sainsbury's car park on the Altira Business Park this morning.

Sainsbury's in Broomfield, Herne Bay

Police have now confirmed patrol teams and armed officers are trying to trace an individual.

Two patrol cars were seen parked up in the road approaching the store, with a further two near the roundabout at the Broomfield flyover.

Firearms officers were called to the scene at about 8.30am.

They remain in the area as they try to locate a person in connection with an ongoing investigation.
