A metal detectorist sparked an emergency bomb disposal team call out after finding a suspected Second World War mortar round near a beach.
Coastguards were told about the device 100 metres off the beach at Hampton in Herne Bay at midday on Sunday, but the tide had covered the suspect device.
Later in the evening, when the tide had gone out the Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team arrived and carried out a controlled explosion.
