Police have arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving and failing to stop after a crash in which a motorcyclist was seriously injured.

It happened between Hicks Forstal Road and Sweechgate, closing the route in both directions for more than two hours.

Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to the scene and the road closure caused long delays in surrounding roads as drivers took alternative routes.

The arrested man from Herne Bay was later bailed pending further inquiries.
