Organisers of Herne Bay’s Classic Motor Show say it will be business as usual after finding a new venue for the event.
The show was meant to be held on the seafront, with as many as 300 vintage cars ready to be lined up to please the crowds.
Then last week deep holes were discovered in the High Street, forcing transport chiefs to divert traffic along Central Parade and threatening the cancellation of the motoring event.
But organiser Chris West has confirmed the event will go ahead after agreeing to move the cars to Herne Bay Junior School, which hosted the Sci-Fi event last week.
Mr West said: “The school have kindly pulled out all the stops to allow us to transfer the event. So it will be business as usual.
“We will have signs from the seafront to let people know that the event is going ahead. We’ve got the original car driven by aviator Amy Johnson, as well as cars dating back to the 1920s.”
He added there will also be music and entertainment from X-Factor finalist Ben Mills, a barbecue and a Punch & Judy show.
The event will be held at Herne Bay Junior School field in King’s Road from 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday, June 28.
