A crowdfunding campaign to give a fitting send-off to a popular plumber killed in a freak jet ski accident has smashed its target in under a day.

A gofundme page was launched yesterday in memory of Jordan Lupton, 25, who died after the tragic incident in the sea at Hampton, in Herne Bay, last weekend.

The former St Anselm’s schoolboy was in a rubber ring being towed by a jet ski when he was struck by another jet ski.

The online page hoped to raise £6,000 to pay for his funeral, but within 20 hours, generous supporters have secured more than £7,300.

Medics on board the helicopter rushed Jordan to King's College Hospital in London after paramedics began treating him on the beach.

Tragically, on Bank Holiday Monday, doctors broke the devastating news that he would not recover from his injuries.

His mother Therese, had been alerted to the accident and rushed to the beach with her daughter, Jasmine.

Mrs Lupton, 57, described car enthusiast Jordan, as a 'cheeky chap, always smiling and joking.'

She added: "He was car-mad and had two BMWs for which he was always buying bits.
“But there was nothing brash about him. He was a bit of a homebird who had no desire to travel. He was just happy enjoying himself with his mates.

"He was just a lovely lad.”

In his younger years, Jordan also boxed for clubs in Herne Bay and Whitstable and was captain of one of Whitstable Rugby Club’s junior teams.

Chloe Henson, who created the gofundme page wrote: "It was a tragic accident to happen to such a beautiful young man, a young life cut short. He had his whole life ahead of him He deserves the very best send off we could all possibly give him."
