Steven Ita left Herne Bay this week to join Ryman League, Division 1 South rivals Sittingbourne in a search for regular first-team football.

The striker spoke with boss Sam Denly on Monday night and decided to make the switch, having moved from Bourne’s former ground-sharers Woodstock Sports.

Denly said: “We have got a strong squad and Steve has struggled to feature recently, only getting 15 or 20 minutes off the bench in games.

“It’s a chance for him to reinvent himself and get some guaranteed game time.”

The Bay boss hailed the 4-0 win over Walton Casuals on Saturday as one of their most complete displays this season.

He said: “It was a good performance in poor conditions.

“We played good football, were clinical in front of goal and capped it all off with a clean sheet.
“It was the ideal way to go into three successive away games.”

Herne Bay travel to South Park on Saturday.
