A coroner investigating a jet ski tragedy in which a 25-year-old man died has asked police to try and find more witnesses.

Plumber Jordan Lupton from Herne Bay was being towed in a rubber ring off Hampton when he was hit by the craft and suffered severe injuries, later dying in hospital.

It happened about 4pm on Saturday, May 27 and now police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, but have not yet spoken to them, to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Martin Glynn said: "While Mr Lupton’s death is not being treated as suspicious, we have been asked by the coroner to seek any further witnesses.

"Everyone who was directly involved in this tragic incident provided officers with an account at the time, and we were also provided with evidence from an independent eyewitness who specialises in offshore safety. We therefore remain confident that no criminal offences were committed.

"Following Mr Lupton's death in hospital, we were required to compile a report for the coroner, who following discussions with the family of the deceased has now requested that we appeal for anyone else who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

"While it happened some time ago, we are hopeful people would still remember what they saw."

Mr Jordan was a popular young man and keen sportsman who lived in Queensbridge Drive.
