A teenager who crashed into a car while over the legal alcohol limit had passed her driving test little more than a fortnight before.

Skye Tuck, 18, celebrated earning her licence on March 23 – but had it for just 18 days before ploughing her Vauxhall Corsa into another vehicle in Sea Street, Herne Bay.

Magistrates in Canterbury heard that police were called after she was seen to strike a parked VW Beetle in the early hours of April 10.

Prosecutor Natalie Brown said that when officers arrived, they were approached by Tuck, who said she had been driving.

Miss Brown told the court: “She told them she had drunk vodka earlier that night. She was driving along when she heard a noise in her car and looked behind her.

“It meant that she collided with a parked car and became embedded in it.”

The hearing took place at Canterbury Magistrates' Court

A breath test showed that Tuck, of Plover Close, Greenhill, had 41 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35.

She admitted drink-driving, and said: “I’m really sorry that this happened. I had two cups of vodka and thought I would be OK to drive.”

Tuck was banned for a year and must also pay a £55 fine, £105 costs and charges.
