A heroin dealer crashed her car, mounted the pavement and attempted to make a run for it during a failed attempt to flee police.

Amii Macey, who was arrested in Victoria Park, Herne Bay last autumn, was quickly apprehended by officers and has now been put behind bars.

Amii Macey has been jailed

The 31-year-old, of no fixed address, was charged with dangerous driving, possession of heroin with intent to supply and possession of crack cocaine.

She was caught in September last year when police spotted a suspicious Volvo during an afternoon patrol in the town.

Officers turned on their patrol car's lights to stop Macey, yet she reversed at speed in an attempt to flee.

She hit a parked car, which had the owner inside, before reversing up onto the pavement and narrowly missing a passing cyclist.

Macey then made a run for it after police blocked the road, but she was quickly apprehended and searched.

Drugs and about £700 in cash were found on the ground at the collision scene, inside Macey's car and in her clothing.

When tested, the drugs were found to be heroin with a street value of up to £640, and a small amount of crack cocaine.

Appearing at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, Macey admitted all three charges against her and and was sentenced to three years in prison.

She was also banned from driving for two years and will have to take an extended retest.

PC David McIntyre said: "Macey's actions on the day of these offences put herself, members of the public and officers in danger and had a lasting effect on the motorist whose car was involved in this collision.

Macey crashed into another car in Victoria Park, Herne Bay (52841345)

"The case shows that drug dealing all too often leads to further criminality and harm, as well as the direct problems it creates for drug users and their families.

"We will continue to disrupt drug dealing networks and bring offenders to justice to protect the most vulnerable in our communities."
