Fire rips through barn and two buildings in Margate Road, Herne Bay

A barn and two other buildings have been engulfed by flames.

Firefighters were called to reports of derelict properties alight in Margate Road, Herne Bay, near Blacksole Bridge.

Huge flames lit up the sky, and residents in the area were woken by the smell of smoke.

Four fire engines were called to the scene shortly after 1am on Sunday.

Crews arrived to find a barn, outbuilding and garage on fire, as well as a nearby vehicle.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Crews worked to tackle the blaze, before damping down any remaining hotspots.

"No casualties were reported, and the cause has not yet been confirmed."

Fire crews left the scene shortly after 3.30am.
