Girl questioned after bid to set shelter alight

POLICE think a dog walker may have seen a group of children attempting to set fire to a shelter along Central Parade, Herne Bay, at around 7am last Friday.

No actual damage was caused to the shelter but after a call to police a group of four children aged 13 and 14 were arrested in connection with the attempted arson.

A 13-year-old girl has been questioned and given police bail. The others were released without charge.

Police are appealing to dog walkers or anyone else who may be able to assist their enquires to contact PC Norcross at Canterbury Police on 01227 762055.
