A “Jekyll and Hyde” bully who stabbed a man during a drink and drugs binge thanked the judge who jailed him.

Christopher Elliott knifed Brandon Hodder in the arm in front of his mother in the midst of a row in South Road, Herne Bay.

Elliott has eight previous convictions for 13 offences, including wounding a woman by throwing a glass in her face in 2017.

Canterbury Crown Court heard “articulate” Elliott’s violent outbursts are fuelled by intoxication, which he claims not to remember.

The 21-year-old’s latest attack happened when he set upon Brandon Hodder with a blade on the afternoon of October 1.

“An altercation started between Brandon Hodder and the defendant, whilst fighting the mother of Hodder separated the pair, both walked back to the property,” prosecutor Eleanor Scott-Davies said.

The defendant then appeared wielding a blade, she added.

“He stabbed the knife towards him and (Mr Hodder) suffered a cut to his arm.”

When police soon arrested Elliott he gave a no comment interview, however he pleaded guilty to wounding with intent at an earlier court hearing.

Mitigating, Phil Rowley explained Elliott, when sober, is “intelligent, articulate and likeable” and was remorseful following the attack.

However his client has a “Jekyll and Hyde” personality after drinking alcohol, he told Judge Catherine Brown.

The court heard Elliott had no recollection of the most recent attack, or wounding a woman with a glass inside a pub in June 2017.

Judge Brown said Elliott’s use of alcohol, taking a blade to the scene of a crime and stabbing his victim in front of his mother were aggravating features.

“You were heavily under the influence of drink and drugs.

“If you take drink and drugs you behave in a way which is unacceptable in society,” she told Elliott.

Elliott, of Victoria Park in Herne Bay, was jailed for five years with a two year extended licence.

He must serve at least 40 months in custody for wounding with intent and carrying a bladed article.

Appearing via video link from HMP Elmley he told Judge Brown: “Thank you your honour, thank you very much.”
