Leaders behind a new initiative aimed at enhancing Herne Bay’s regeneration fear a meeting organised to reveal their plans will be overlooked after a leaflet distribution error.
Bosses heading up the Herne Bay Coastal Community had 20,000 leaflets printed to advertise the event, which will be held at the King's Hall on Wednesday evening.
But a distribution error has left them undelivered and organisers now fear residents will forget the meeting.
He said: "We had 20,000 leaflets printed and there was a report one or two people had received them, but none of the trustees have and they all live in different parts of the town.
"There will be some people who knew about it because it’s been circulated around the town, but there won’t be the same support I have been so desperately looking for.
"It won’t be in the thousands delivered, it will be in the hundreds – and that’s if any meaningful numbers have been delivered at all."
Mr Vickery-Jones is calling on residents to attend and show their support for the initiative.
He said: "The meeting is absolutely key because if it is well supported that will give us the encouragement that we need to continue our efforts.
"We could build massive things, one that rivals any attraction like the Turner Gallery in Margate.
"I don’t want people to think of things done in the past – I want massive things.
"We have got so many little things that are good about Herne Bay, but as a whole there’s not enough of an offer unlike Canterbury or Whitstable with the Cathedral and Harbour.
"I have got fixed on this aviation centre idea – we could do wonderful things."
The meeting will be at the King's Hall on Wednesday evening at 7pm. Visit www.hernebaycoastalcommunityteam.org for details
