Warren Leggatt who was found hanged

A 20-year-old man was found dead just days after a former girlfriend had ended their relationship.

Warren Leggatt was found hanged from a tree near his home in Greenhill, Herne Bay.

Earlier that week his former girlfriend Carmen Cox had told him she wanted to break all contact with him, an inquest heard.

Miss Cox told the coroner that Mr Leggatt had told her four days before he died that “when he’s gone he hopes he breaks my heart like I did his.”

The body of the former Herne Bay High School pupil was found by a passing van driver in Rowland Drive at 5.40am on Saturday, May 17.

Mr Leggatt, of Matthews Road, Greenhill, had been released from prison on Monday, May 12.

Within hours he found out Miss Cox, his girlfriend of more than a year, was seeing someone else.

A verdict of suicide was recorded.
