Brutal hammer attack in Mortimer Street, Herne Bay, leads to arrest

Detectives investigating a hammer attack in Herne Bay have arrested a suspect.

It follows an assault reported to have taken place at the junction of Mortimer Street and East Street at around 7.30pm on Friday, March 30.

The victim, a 54-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and is still being treated in hospital where his condition is described as stable.

Yesterday, officers arrested a 35-year-old man from the Herne Bay area on suspicion of assault. He has been bailed until Saturday, May 5 while inquiries continue.
