More than 50 cars have been damaged in a town in a weekend vandalism spree.
Dozens of furious residents discovered their cars had been scratched in Herne Bay between Saturday and yesterday.
A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remains in custody.
One eyewitness, who lives in William Street, woke at 3am to find a person damaging multiple cars along the road.
The vandal was moving from car to car in “quick succession”, before the witness shouted at them to stop. The culprit then ran away.
At about 7am, the resident, who did not want to be named, went into the street to inspect the damage - along with their neighbours.
“Other people came out for their morning commute, and we had an array of people out in the street assessing the damage done to the vehicles,” he said.
“Some of the cars are high quality, such as Mercedes and Audi.
“It’s not just a scratch with a key, it is down to the metal and a very malicious attack.”
A police spokesman confirmed the force is investigating reports of damage caused to cars in Herne Bay between Saturday and yesterday.
“A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remains in custody while inquiries continue,” he said.
It is understood more than 50 cars were damaged in the spree across the weekend.
