Pair taken to hospital after alleged assault in Herne Bay high street

Two people were taken to hospital after an alleged serious assault in a town centre.

Police were called to Herne Bay high street at about 3.30am on Sunday to reports a man and woman had been assaulted.

Police have released CCTV images after an alleged serious assault in Herne Bay

The man was taken to hospital where he remains receiving treatment for his injuries.

The woman was taken to the same hospital and was later discharged.

Inquiries are ongoing and officers have released CCTV images of people they would like to speak to.

Patrick Holmes, of Clarendon Street, Herne Bay, was arrested on Tuesday as part of the same investigation.

He was later charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and assault causing actual bodily harm.

The 29-year-old was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, April 8.
