A jet-skier was rescued from deep mud after getting stuck in Herne Bay harbour.

Coastguard and fire crews helped free the trapped pleasure seeker near to a launch ramp yesterday evening, before they were called out to Reculver for a separate incident.

The rescue in central Herne Bay was carried out from Neptune car park, with the jet-ski being towed free from thick mud.

While at the scene, the Coastguard teams were tasked with a second call-out after a walker fell on Reculver beach and seriously damaged their ankle.

The Margate Coastguard was deployed before the Herne Bay crews were able to get to the scene.

The casualty was stretchered from the beach up to an ambulance and taken to hopsital.

A witness to the rescue praised the crews on Facebook, stating: "I was with the patient who broke his ankle on the beach and it was not an easy task to even get to the location as there was no direct footpath/road even remotely close to where the accident happened. A big thank you to the entire team."
