Star Wars fans were in for a surprise when they turned up at the Kavanagh Cinema in Herne Bay to see the latest blockbuster - The Force Awakens.

Because there to greet them were some of the movie's most famous characters - including Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2D2 and Stormtroopers.

They were participants from the Herne Bay Promo team's popular Sci-Fi by the Sea event who were invited to add some excitement to the opening night.

And it provided cinema-goers with the perfect photo and selfie opportunity of the event.

Cinema-goers also watched the film in added comfort following a recent upgrade which includes wider seats.
