Masala Bay in Herne Bay High Street

An Indian takeaway forced to close last month after a cockroach infestation has reopened for business.

City council environmental health officers closed Masala Bay in Herne Bay High Street on Friday October 24, after issuing an emergency prohibition order.

It was prompted after a customer found one of the bugs in a bag of poppadoms.

Staff at the premises immediately carried out their own pest control measures, but when an inspection was carried out soon after, there was still evidence of an infestation.

Officers revisited the premises last Friday and found there was no longer an imminent risk to health in terms of contamination of food.
